Kerala bid adieus to Veteran Socialist, Eminent Writer and Leading Journalist MP Veeerendrakumar with full state honours

Kozhikode: Mathrubhumi Managing Director M. P. Veerendra Kumar MP passed away on Thursday night at a private hospital in Kozhikode following a cardiac arrest. The demise of the socialist leader, writer and Rajya Sabha MP has not only left a void in the world of politics but also in the literary world. The sudden demise of the prolific writer and journalist of repute was mourned by many eminent personalities including MT Vasudevan Nair, Balachandran Chullikkadu and MK Sanu.

MP Veerendra Kumar, was laid to rest with full state honours at his native residence here in Kalpetta on Friday at 5 pm….

The funeral was held according to Jain traditions at his residence at Puliyarmala. Last rites were performed by his son and Mathrubhumi Joint Managing Director M. V. Shreyams Kumar.

Veerendra Kumar passed away on Thursday night at a private hospital in Kozhikode following a cardiac arrest. He was 84.

His body was taken to his residence at Chalappuram in Kozhikode on Thursday night and to his native place at Puliyarmala, Kalpetta in Wayanad district on Friday.

The body was kept at his residence for public homage till 4 pm. The funeral was held adhering to COVID-19 protocols.
